What is "Airsoft"?

Airsoft is the cleaner and much more realistic alternative to paintball. Airsoft is a team game created to imitate the military and tactical missions.

The game itself resembles so much with reality that it's being used for training sessions for Police, Army or security forces. Instead of paint balls, the game uses a variety of weapons that fire 6mm BB's, of different weights.

The ammo being used is very important for multiple reasons.

The weapon's range is lower than the paintball weapons and the tactics are very different. You can't hide over a tree and shoot like a maniac, hoping that you kill someone. "Blind fire" is strictly prohibited in airsoft.

In the absence of paint balls, a question is raised ... How do you know who was hit and who was not? The answer is very simple. The game is based on a code of honor. If you have been hit, you leave the game by free will, because in airsoft there's no room for cheaters. A player is getting out of the game with a hand or replica raised above his head. He is not allowed to communicate info regarding the game in progress to members of his own team or to his opponents. He is dead for the whole duration of that game at least. Cheaters attract penalties stipulated by regulation.

It's possible that someone will not feel the hit. In this case, resort to amicable agreement. In some cases, some games have referrees. The honor code is very important because in airsoft is no possibility to see what are all the players doing all the time.

The honor system originates in Japan, it being a crucial thing for the Japanese. In Japan, paintball is illegal. In Asia in general, paintball is not played at all. In Japan, however, the tactical team games were popular with the population. In these conditions, Airsoft developed in the '70s, its name probably being diverted from the "softair" weapons used in the game. Another big difference between Airsoft and other sports / games of this type is that the guns used in Airsoft guns are replicas of real weapons!. They were manufactured for the first time in the U.S. in the late 70s. Japanese took the idea and made some design changes. At first they shot BBs through a system based on springs. The system was replaced by electricity and thus modern Airsoft guns appeared.

Airsoft is a hobby and an excellent team building option for those who want to emulate the military struggle in a more realistic way. Airsoft allows you much more freedom and very very much realism. If in airsoft, plans are important, the strategies are well-tuned and the fight scenarios can adapt to everyday life. You can lose good hours or days in battles with friends, in the forest (woodland combat) or urban (CQB) and get rid of everyday problems.

What is "Paintball"?

Paintball is a sport where players out eachother by hits with balls of paint. The weapons use spring mechanisms or are gas-powered, thus launching the paint balls. On impact with an object, the ball breaks, paint creating a splatter, thus leaving the obvious shot.

The sport is used both for training in various armed interventions or troops, as well as commercial purposes.

As in any activity or sport, there's always the possibility of injury. However, the rules of safety and proper use of equipment manufactured and approved in terms of safety, make paintball one of the safest team games. In fact, insurance companies' statistics show that more people are injured during a game of bowling or fishing, except when playing paintball.

If the players on the field * ALWAYS * wear protective goggles, which are usually part of a mask for eye and face protection. If, when they're not playing, the weapons are not loaded, to prevent accidental shooting. The safety is pointed out on most games and training sessions are being organized to initiate each of players that will be supervised by referrees.

The commercial fields for paintball shooting limits shooting speed within 300 feet per second. Players who ignore the rules regarding safety are usually removed from the game and not allowed to attend the future ones. Play fields that do not meet safety requirements must be avoided.
